Tucson
(Tucson,
Ariz.) – June 1, 2004—On Thursday June3,2004 the Pascua Yaqui
Tribe opens Tucson’s newest and largest fire station in
Southern
Arizona. The new
Pascua Pueblo Fire Station #1 is 26,125 square feet and has four fire truck bays
to hold three brand new public safety vehicles including a new ambulance, a new
pumper fire truck and a 100 foot aerial ladder truck.
The 26,125 square foot fire station building was built with federal grant
funds and Tribal support made possible with gaming revenue. The new fire station
includes the benefits of having a state of the art public safety facility in the
Southwestern Tucson region without raising taxes. The Pascua Yaqui Fire
Department will serve the Pascua Yaqui Reservation but future plans may include
using the new facility as a regional training center that could benefit the
entire greater Tucson community. The new fire station will support
quicker response time to regional public safety incidents. The new training
capability could further improve rapid response to local emergency
situations.
The grand opening ceremony will start at 10:30 am, June 3 at
Pascua Pueblo Fire Station #1 located at 4631 W. Calle Torim, Tucson. Media
Tours begin at 8:30 am on June 3 or by appointment. Grand Opening
