ATTENTION PHARMACY PATIENTS

Would you like to decrease your wait time for your prescriptions?

We want to help!

After your appointment, please check in with a pharmacy staff member, either in person or by phone, so that we can provide you a wait time. We assist patients on a first come, first serve basis and will provide you an appropriate time based on the number of medications you are receiving and the number of patients ahead of you. We appreciate your patience as we learn to improve in providing better patient safety and satisfaction.

Please allow one business day for all refills called into the automated refill system. This will allow us to have all your medications ready at time of pick up, in case we are out of stock or need to contact your doctor. If your doctor has not responded in three days, please contact their office. You are encourage to order your meds up to 7 days in advance (excluding controlled medications, which can only be filled every 30 days or when you are scheduled to run out). Don’t forget to ask if you are eligible for our auto-refill and auto-call program!

Thank you for your cooperation!

Opioid Limit

Per Governor Doucey’s Executive Order, and in an effort to combat our State’s growing opioid crisis, AHCCCS is now enforcing a 7 day initial opioid limit for both adult and pediatric patients receiving SHORT-ACTING opioids.

Short Acting Opiates

(including first fill tramadol, oxycodone/APAP, hydrocodone/APAP, morphine, oxycodone, etc.)

  • What does initial mean?
Initial refers to a short-acting opioid that the member has NOT filled in the past 60 days.
  • What if I have a prescription for 30 days and the pharmacy can only fill 7 days?
The pharmacy will dispense only 7 days and a new prescription will need to be obtained from your doctor. Your doctor may need to submit a prior authorization to your insurance plan for anything more than 7 days.
  • Who does this NOT apply to?
Active oncology diagnosis, hospice care, end-of-life care, palliative care, skilled nursing facilities, or traumatic injury, including post-surgical procedures. Your doctor will have to write your diagnosis code on the prescription so that the pharmacy can get an override from your insurance plan.

Long Acting Opiates

Consider asking your provider to submit a prior authorization to your insurance plan prior to filling at the pharmacy for new start long acting opiates.

Important points

Currently, tribal pharmacies that are allowed to fill for eligible tribal members are exempt from this order. This may change in the future.

  • If you fill at an outside pharmacy, you may be affected.
  • New start short acting opioids are limited to 7 days.
  • Pharmacy may need to contact your doctor with prior authorization requests for the rejections your insurance is giving. Please follow up with your doctor and insurance plan if your prescription is still not covered when you check with the pharmacy.
