Pascua Yaqui Tribe

Radio Station

It’s your Radio Station.

We want to hear from you!

Greetings from The Voice of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe

KPYT-LPFM began broadcasting on June 21, 2005. Shortly thereafter, a survey was circulated via the Tribal Governments’ Intranet to determine station programming. Response to the survey prompted management to program the following music genres: Tejano, Yaqui music (folk and Paskola), Old Skool, Oldies, and Classic Rock. Other music genres have been added to the original format. Airing Public Service Announcements is an important part of KPYT-LP’s programming, as are the various departmental radio shows, such as; The Diabetes Prevention Program, Club House Radio, The Education Hour, Vahi Vo’om Hiawai (entirely in the Hiaki language), The Sewa Uusim Radio Show, and Tribal Legacies. Some of the other programs include, The More Variety Morning Show, The Backyard Jam, Country Jubilee, En Concierto, The Snake Break and The Classic Rock Block.

Hector Youtsey is the General Manager and Gabriel Otero is the Program Coordinator. There are approximately 30 volunteers producing and hosting their programs and public service announcements. Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer should call Hector at 520-838-7111 or Gabriel at 520- 838-7110.
