Hello, Students!

Congratulations on your decision to continue your education. The Higher Education Assistance Program is more than a financial assistance program. Our advisors are here to assist you in your academic success. Each student is unique, and all students require assistance. HEAP is here to procure additional financial aid resources, network with Yaqui students, and identify other resources to aid you. The application will open on November 1, 2023, if you seek financial aid. Deadlines are as follows:

The spring application window is June 1st through August 31st

The fall application window is November 1st through January 6th



Higher Education Assistance Program Ordinance 


  • Must be registered within a fundable institution
  • Must be an enrolled member of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe
  • Must be degree-seeking (Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctorate)
  • HEAP offers direct deposit as a form of payment. Please contact your EAS if you are interested.

All required documents must be in PDF format. Application documents must also include any/all student identifiers such as name and student ID number. Screenshots nor screenshots converted to PDF will not be accepted and will delay the review process. If you require any assistance, please contact the HEAP office for accommodations.


To complete your application, please have the following required documents ready for upload:

The following documents below MUST be obtained and saved as PDFs from the student’s web portal and contain the student’s name and field of study/major consistent with the application:

  • Official Transcripts for any college or university attended. (Please send your unopened/sealed official transcripts directly to your EAS. If your institution offers electronic official transcripts, please have them sent directly to your assigned EAS or the
  • Schedule of Classes (List view)
  • Tuition Bill/Statement and Required Book Prices
  • Degree Plan, DARS, SAPR, Advisement Check Sheet, or Advisement Report

After submission of your application, contact your Education Assistance Specialist. Incomplete applications will not be processed. Late documents will not be accepted. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks after the deadline for applications to be processed.
